When you start reading this edition of the international report it’s already summer. First let me wish you one of the nicest summers ever with love for you and the family and all the things planned for the holiday seasons as wished. After last report, which came out in the two first days of June, a lot of e mails came in from the readers and here are a few to get a name check from me this time.
Hi everybody. This is the second report of the month of May. I started compiling it on May 1st. A bright welcome to a lot of new readers, including again some former offshore deejays, with whom I contacted once again. First of all Nico Steenbergen, who was one of the original Driemaster Team members of the famous liveprogram from MEBO II (started1971). Only the last year the show was prerecorded in the studio’s in Naarden. The same place where the Dutch Service of RNI recorded a lot of their programs.
At the time of writing it’s April Fools Day and one joke I want to mention is the one done by the Radio 192 team. They did sent out by e mail messages that the name of the station would be renamed into Radio Mi Amigo. Indeed in the afternoon good old Peter van Dam was on the air but this time not with the regular Radio 192 jingles but old Mi Amigo jingles. Fun for a short moment!
Welcome to the August edition of the international radio report and I hope you had a relaxing summer with a break you will remember for a long time. My wife Jana and me stayed for nine days in her original hometown Rostock in Germany and next we are going to the Isle of Terschelling for a few days, which is above the North of the Netherlands.
Hi and a warm welcome to the July edition of the International Radio Report. Of course first some of the responses which came in: "Hi Hans this is Phil Pickering from Coalville, Leicestershire. What a wonderful report as usual I have been reading it now for the last couple of years. How good it is to bring back the memories of Offshore Radio".
Welcome to this report, which starts on May 16th. Last month I had already planned the next info but there was too less space to use. April 29th was a special day for Juul Geleick. He worked as technician for Radio Veronica and later for decades for the TROS. This public broadcaster began her broadcasting as RTV Noordzee from a platform in the Northsea, way back in 1964. The platform is still off the coast of Noordwijkerhout and is used this year by the TROS for several programs to pay attention to the fact it all happened for the first time 40 years ago.
Hi all out there in wonderful radio world. Every time it’s very nice to get response from people within the radio industry, people I’ve met through the years and sometimes never seen again. One of them I did met once, way back in, I think it was 1985. Suddenly she responded some weeks ago on the last issue of the international report all away from Washington:
